The combat shotgun[SA][LCS][IV], Spaz shotgun in the first PlayStation 2 version of GTA Vice City, S.P.A.S. 12 in later versions, and Spaz 12 in GTA Vice City Stories, is a semi-automatic shotgun with a magazine capacity of 7 rounds. These can be fired in rapid succession, so you do not have to pump the shotgun after each shot. Moreover, it is more accurate than the normal shotgun, and in addition it also packs more punch. The stubby and pump shotgun are even stronger, but lack the combat shotgun's range, and the latter two do have to be rechambered with the famous pump action.

In GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA Liberty City Stories and GTA Vice City Stories the combat shotgun is based on the SPAS 12, where the names in the Vice City renditions come from. The only difference is that the stock is unfolded in GTA Vice City Stories, while all the other GTA's feature a folded stock. In Grand Theft Auto IV the weapon is based on the Remington Model 1100 TAC 4.

In GTA San Andreas you will reach the 'gangster level' at 20% weapon skill, and 'hitman level' at 100%.

Trivia

  • In Grand Theft Auto IV "12 GUAGE · EC28 · IRL" is stamped on the left side, while "TAC-700" and "LIBERTY CITY ARMS" are stamped on the right side. The TAC 700 part most likely refers to the TAC 4 it is based on. Note that "gauge" misspelled is as "guage".
