In San Andreas you can find two so called "Beat the Cock" Triathlons. Those triathlons are named like that because the Cluckin' Bell company is the title sponsor. A Cluckin' Bell employee will participate in the thriatlon too, dressed in the official Cluckin' Bell costume. He participates because he has said he can win without breaking a sweat. It's up to you to beat him and the other competitors. In the Ganton Gym you can find an advert saying there is a triathlon on Santa Maria Beach and on the Fisher's Lagoon beach, in Palomino Creek.
The start point of the Santa Maria Beach triathlon can be found near the light tower, on the sea side of the corner of the beach. A road to the lighttower is very close to it. The triathlon in Palomino Creek also starts on a beach, the one with the old shed and a rusty wheelchair. You can start a triathlon on Saturdays and Sundays. A triathlon is a race which combines three principles, swimming, running and cycling, so it's wise to make sure you you have enough stamina, cycling skill. Your fatlevel should be very low as it slows you down a lot, and the same thing can be said for muscle. To remove fat and muscle you could try swimming or running, or just don't eat for a few real-life hours without saving your game.
Santa Maria Beach
Step inside the red marker on the beach to start the Beat the Cock Triathlon. Other competitors will arrive at the startline and when the signal sounds, start running towards the water. When you begin to swim, follow the path through the checkpoints. Stay with the group of other swimmers for as long as you can, and make good use of the option to go faster for a short time. This can be done by pressing the left shift button on the PC, or tapping on the PS2. Using this too often or too long will make CJ get tired faster and you will lose your good place.
After a certain amount of checkpoints you have to get out of the water to reach the next checkpoint. This is when you have to get on the bicycle within 25 seconds te advance in the triathlon. Cycling is the largest part of the triathlon and you should be able to become first and even get some distance between you and the others.
You'll be cycling through Flint County, Whetstone en Angel Pine, until you reach the highway to San Fierro that lies next to the Golf course. On the other side of that Golf course is a road that goes uphill. When you reach this road, it's time to say goodbye to the bicycle and to start running up the hill. You should have a comfortable distance between you and the competitors so this shouldn't be much of a problem.
While on your way to the top of Missionary Hill, don't forget to run through any checkpoints and try to run as little meters as possible. It's possible the competitors are closing in on you, look behind you from time to time to know when you have to make a sprint to keep the first place. Continue doing this until you reach the top of the hill. If you come in first, you win the $10,000.= price money.
Fisher's Lagoon
When you want to do this triathlon, it's best to start it early in the morning, around 4 a.m. This way, you have to swim in the dark, but you can cycle when there is enough light to see where you're going. At the end you'll have to run in the dark as well, but that should be doable. All this is because the triathlon on the beach near Fishers Lagoon in Palomino Creek is much longer than the one one Santa Maria Beach. It will take you through whole San Andreas, while competing with eight other triathletes. Walk into the red marker to start the triathlon. You have to run into the water again and swim through the checkpoints. The triathlon is much longer than the Santa Maria triathlon, and as a result you'll have to swim a lot longer too. You'll get exhausted by swimming that long, but try to keep up with the other competitors. After nine checkpoints you can get out of the water to jump on the mountain bike. The cycle part of the triathlon is also very long, it will take a lot of time. You'll be cycling over Hilltop farm, through Blueberry and past the Easter Bay Airport to San Fierro. When you're in San Fierro, you cycle past the garage in Doherty, after that through the Downtown area, Calton Heights and over the Gant Bridge. Leaving San Fierro, you cycle through Tierra Robada and through the desert. This is followed by cycling over the Sherman Dam, through Bone County and then you head for Las Venturas. The cycling part is over when you reach the Burger Shot in Las Venturas, the one where you can start the courier mission. The last part of the triathlon is the running part. You'll have to run to the south of The Strip. Keep checking if there are any competitors close and make a sprint if needed. Continue doing this until you reach the final checkpoint near the The Four Dragons Casino. If you come in first, you get the $20,000.= award money.
