Main article: Trailers (GTA V)

Four trailers have been released and one gameplay video. The first trailer aired one week after Rockstar Games announced GTA V, on 2 november 2011. The second trailer was released one year later on 14 november 2012. A third trailer was released on 30 april 2013. The first trailer left us with many questions, because the story was not really featured in the trailer. However, the second trailer was the opposite: it showed us parts of the protagonists' lives, their family and their friends. The third trailer gave us a specific look on each of the protagonists.

Grand Theft Auto V Trailer

GTA V is set in a renewed, present day Los Santos. Los Santos is still located in San Andreas, as seen on the vehicles' license plates, but it's unlikely that San Fierro and Las Venturas will make their return. Since the official announcement of the game, Rockstar speaks consequently about "the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches." Source When the release date was revealed, South California was mentioned, "from the tops of the mountains to the depths of the ocean" Source. It may even be possible to go deep into the country sides of the game, as the map will not only consist of a major city. As seen in the first trailer, mountains and a desert will also appear. Rockstar said that Grand Theft Auto V will be bigger than Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV altogether.

The story is about the hunt for the mighty dollar. Even Los Santos is suffering from the major economical crisis, as the shots on the homeless, on bankruptcy declarations and on someone who's trying to sell his house, show us. During the dollar hunt you will encounter a lot of action while you're doing a heist like Three Leaf Clover. The heists will be better than we've previously seen in GTAs, because of the new setting: in contrast to previous GTAs, you will not play with one, but with three different characters. Apart from their different roles, each character has it's own unique personality, his own hobbies, story line and relatives and friends. It is not possible to start friendship like in GTA San Andreas or GTA IV, but we will see one complete family in GTA for the first time, of course with it's troubles from time to time.

Minigames will also be featured in GTA V, together with the 'random encounters' which one might know from Red Dead Redemption. Instead of a bunch of different minigames of which some aren't interesting, GTA V will have good thought-out side missions. This includes (but is not limited to) yoga, parachute jumping, triathlons, jet skiing, playing tennis and golf. Because of the different personalities of the protagonists, you will not be able to do each minigame with every character. Apart from these minigames, you might find yourself helping locals you just met roaming through the map. These random people might be able to provide you something in exchange for a little help. These so-called random encounters were first seen in Red Dead Redemption, but they will also be featured in GTA V.
